Coach Dave
Dave’s coaching philosophy focuses on the individual athlete’s journey toward attaining their goals. Swimmers will develop self-worth
and confidence in their abilities with proper guidance through education and development of technical skills. His team experience
includes a focus on: work ethic, personal motivation, individual and team responsibility, honesty, and self-discipline; while conducting
themselves with exceptional character, integrity, and team unity. Dave’s intense love for the sport of swimming can be seen through
his enthusiasm on the pool deck and in his educational approach toward the development of young athletes.
Coach Dave has been the Head Coach of the Mountain Lakes High School Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams for 17 seasons.
The Lakers Men have won 7 NJ Public B State Titles (most recently 2009) and 8 county championships (latest 2010). In 2007, the
boys set the NJ STATE RECORD for the most consecutive Relay Championships with nine (9); and Dave was named the 2007 Star-
Ledger State and 2007 National Federation HS Regional Coach of the Year.
The Lady Lakers have won two (2) NJ Public B State Titles (2008 and 2010); has been to the NJ State Playoffs 15 of 17 seasons
winning 11 sectional titles (NJ State FINAL FOUR Eleven times and runner's up 4 times) to go along with seven (7) county titles.
Dave's High School Teams have also boasted 23 High School All-Americans during his tenure. Dave was chosen to be the 2010
Girls Coach of the Year in Morris County.
Additionally, Dave has revived and developed very successful summer age-group swimming programs in Mountain Lakes from 1998-
2007 and here at The Cruiser Club since 2008. Both programs embody his philosophies and family approach to youth sports.
Finally, Coach Dave has taken on his newest endeavor…running the FIRST LONG COURSE CAMP in Sussex County. North Jersey
Long Course Camp has the same philosophy and mission as all of Coach Dave’s teams. It has grown from 20 swimmers in our
inaugural season, to over 70 in just two seasons! He also coaches Girls Lacrosse in Vernon and Mountain Lakes.
